2018 English Photo Story Contest

Show your creativity and uniqueness by composing a photo story!

  1. Qualifications: Students at Asia University
  2. Contest theme: A creative English story with fascinating photos
  3. Important dates:

Call for works:  Mar. 1st (Thu.)~Apr. 11th (Wed.)

Result announcement:  Apr. 16th (Mon.)

Award ceremony:  Apr. 18th (Wed.)  

  1. Regulations:
  1. The contest contains two groups: 1. International group (DFLL students, international students, General English AU1&AU2 students are included) and 2. Campus group (General English AU3,AU4,AU5 students). Students who got a TOEIC score over 600 should join International group.
  2. This is a group contest, each group consists of 2-5 people.
  3. The content should be in English. Contestants use 5 to 10 original photos to tell a story or an event. Each photo should accompany with 50 to 80 words caption.
  4. The story can be an anecdote, an interesting story, personal experience or your imagination. The captions should relate with the photos.
  5. Story and photos must be original. (Photos could be modified.) Story and photos are required to be presented together as an A3 size (420mm×297mm) poster. Contestants should turn in the poster as a PDF or a JPG file.
  6. At the right bottom corner, please include the following words: “2018 English Photo Story Contest ”.
  7. Electronic sign up link will be available on CDLTR website  http://cltr.asia.edu.tw and MOE Curriculum Reform Project website  http://egc.asia.edu.tw. Submit register information and your completed poster online by logging in google account. Each group needs hand in a declaration with register signatures to M204 to complete the registration.

  1. Notification:
  1. Since this is an EFL contest and the focus is to motivate students who live in countries where English is a foreign language, if participants come from a country where one of the official languages is English (or the participant has a passport from a country where English is an official language), that student cannot participate in the contest.
  2. If there is any dispute regarding the regulations, the competition judges will have a meeting for resolution, and the decisions and revised regulations will be announced by the organizer online.
  3. If the judges find either the story or the photos are plagiarized, the group will be disqualified.
  4. If the organizer finds any winning work is plagiarized, participants’ award will be canceled and prizes will be recovered.
  5. If the judges find any disturbing images (violence, nudity, or sexual content) the group will be disqualified.

English composition ability (30%)

Accuracy of English use

Creativity (30%)

Creativity shown in the story and photos

Overall presentation (20%)

Coordination between caption and photos

Photography (20%)

Photos’ quality & uniqueness

  1. Prizes:

Each Group will have 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize and 2 Outstanding Awards.

First prize: NT$ 3,000 & certificates.

Second prize: NT$ 2,000 & certificates.

Third prize: NT$ 1,000 & certificates.

Outstanding Award: NT$500 & certificates
