2021 English Book Cover Design Contest

Freshman EGP students and Sophomore EGSP students

Book Cover Design for Readers in General English Class
Important dates:
Call for Works: Apr. 26th (Mon.) ~Jun. 11th (Fri.) 5pm
Result Announcement: Jun. 21st (Mon.)
Award Ceremony: Jun. 25th (Fri.)
Regulations:
1. The book cover design must address to one of the graded readers from “The 108-109 Academic Year Graded Reader List” (Appendix 1)
2. Based on the reader’s storyline to design a cover, and write a 100-120 words description to explain the design in English.
3. The cover should contain front cover, back cover and the original book title (Book spine is optional).
4. The cover should be a complete work, and the English words applied in the design must integrate into the design.
5. Both the English description and the photo/illustration applied in the design must be original. (Photo could be modified.)
6. The book title and the photo/illustration are required to be presented together as an A4 size (29.7cm*21.0cm) book cover design. English description has to be presented in another page. Contestants should turn in the book cover and the description as a PDF file.
7. For the required photo/illustration, you may use either a) photo, b) craft art, or c) illustration, which should be taken or created by yourself.
8. At the right bottom corner, please include the following words: “2021 English Book Cover Design Contest.”
9. This is an individual contest; each student can submit only one work.
10. The contest contains two groups: 1. International group (DFLL students, international students, General English AU1&AU2 level students and EGSP – Advanced level students are included) and 2. Local group (General English AU3, AU4 and AU5 level students and EGSP – Intermediate level students). Students who got a TOEIC score over 650 should join International group.
11. General English and EGSP Instructors can recommend up to 5 students per class to register the contest.

On-line Registration, please follow the following steps:
Step 1. Go to the registration link, (International Group & Local Group) and fill in register information. (you need to log in with your google account)
Step.2 Submit your completed book cover and design description (two A4 pages, one PDF files) to the link.
Step 3. Each participant needs to fill in a declaration when signing up to complete the registration.

Notification:
1.Since this is an EFL contest and the focus is to motivate students who live in countries where English is a foreign language, if participants come from a country where one of the official languages is English (or the participant has a passport from a country where English is an official language), that student cannot participate in the contest.
2.If there is any dispute regarding the regulations, the competition judges will have a meeting for resolution, and the decisions and revised regulations will be announced by the organizer online.
3.If the judges find either the message or the photo/illustration is plagiarized, the work will be disqualified.
4.If the organizer finds any winning work is plagiarized, participants’ award will be canceled and prizes will be recovered.
5.If the judges find the content harms another’s reputation or contains any disturbing images (violence, nudity, or sexual content), the work will be disqualified.
6.Contestant please be careful with the contest regulations. If the work does not follow the regulations, the work won’t be accepted to the final round.

Each Group will have 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize and 6 outstanding Awards.
First prize: NT$ 1,200 & certificate.
Second prize: NT$ 1,000 & certificate.
Third prize: NT$ 800 & certificate.
Outstanding award (6 people): NT$300 & certificate
